SERRANO SAYS HEALING BEGINS FOR CUBAN CHILD AND HIS FAMILY

Washington, D.C., April 22 -- Congressman Jose E. Serrano (D-NY) today said that the decision to reunite Elian Gonzalez with his father is the beginning of a healing process for the child and his family.

The six-year-old child was reunited with his father at Andrews Air Force Base Saturday five months after the child was rescued off the Florida coast. Elian was found in an inner tube Nov. 25 after a boat accident in which his mother and her boyfriend perished as they attempted to enter the United States.
