Hearing on Internet Privacy
Mr. Chairman, thank you for putting together this hearing on Internet
privacy
issues. I share the concerns expressed by large percentages of U.S.
consumers
regarding the information collection and usage practices of Web sites
and
online companies. I believe, as is suggested by several surveys, that
these
concerns must be adequately addressed for the Internet to reach its
full
social and commercial potential. Further, I believe these information
collection
and usage practices raise serious policy considerations, many of which
are directly under this Subcommittee`s jurisdiction.
