Child Safety Seats Recalled

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Britax Child Safety is recalling nearly 10,000 child safety seats that do not meet government standards, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration announced Monday.

The agency said the recall involves 9,922 Roundabout convertible safety seats manufactured between Jan. 13, 1999, and March 14, 1999.

The seats could allow a child's head to move farther forward in a crash than allowed by federal standards, raising the potential for injury.

NHTSA said Britax has developed a shoulder pad kit that solves the problem and can be easily installed by the owner.
