Qld: Man loses arm despite emergency help
BRISBANE, July 18 AAP - Doctors today failed in an attempt to re-attach the left arm
of a Queensland man whose limb was severed in a farming accident.
The 36-year-old man from Tara, west of Toowoomba, walked four kilometres home after
the accident in which his shirt became entangled in a post hole borer, taking his arm
off just below the shoulder.
When he got home his wife drove him back to the accident site to retrieve the arm before
taking him to the local hospital.
He was later flown by helicopter to the Princess Alexandra hospital in Brisbane where
microsurgeons were unable to re-attach the arm.
