Some of the tall ships of the world have now arrived in New London,
Connecticut. The grand sailing vessels from many countries have
been on tour as part of OpSail 2000 with a Fourth of July stop in
New York Harbor. The ship Esmeralda is among them. As a goodwill
ambassador for Chile, she is a sail training vessel with more than
300 cadets aboard. The Esmeralda has a dark moment in her past and
there have been protests in many ports of call. In 1973 when Augusto
