These lines, from the song "As Time Goes By" and immortalized in "Casablanca," describe the cliched trappings of love shared between man and woman. Not every love story is as cookie cutter as this, though, as is evident in Jean Vigo's 1934 masterwork "L'Atalante." A film in a perpetual dream state, "L'Atalante" is the rare piece of art that can carry the same amount of vibrancy in the eyes of modern viewers as it could when it was originally released.
