Fed: National missing persons week begins tomorrow
A religious service for the families of missing persons in Sydney today has been a
small step towards healing the hurt.
For the secretary of the NSW Missing Persons Committee, MAREE DAWES, the service at
the Arncliffe Uniting Church was especially important.
She says that unlike a death, where a family can mourn through a funeral, there's no
such mourning process when a person simply disappears.
Ms DAWES says there is no resolution of grief without a funeral which, although difficult,
is better than not knowing at all.
Each year about 28,000 Australians go missing.
