Profile: US Olympic boxer Michael Bennett

ROBERT SIEGEL, host:
American boxer Michael Bennett will go to the Summer Olympics hoping
to cap his brief and improbable career with a medal. He's got a good
chance considering that he's the reigning amateur world champion in
the heavyweight division. Bennett is 29, but he has been boxing only
for six years. Perhaps even more surprising is how his career began.
If Bennett does win a medal in Sydney, he'll probably be the only
Olympian to give credit to convicted felons for getting him started
in his sport. NPR's Tom Goldman prepared this report.
