Preston Sturges

American film director and screenwriter Preston Sturges looks suave in a suit. Sturges was known for his sophisticated and urbane scripts which he insisted on directing, a rarity in the 1940s. Sturges won an Academy Award for screenwriting for his film The Great McGinty about a transient who becomes a governor, which is laden with typical Sturges humor.
