Qld: Inquiry into electoral fraud

BRISBANE, Aug 15 AAP - Allegations of vote-rigging in the lead-up to the 1998 Queensland
election will be investigated by the state's Electoral Commissioner following the conviction
of a former ALP candidate for electoral fraud.

Attorney-General Matt Foley today referred court transcripts and affidavits from last
Friday's Townsville District Court case to the Electoral Commissioner for further investigation.

Queensland's corruption watchdog, the Criminal Justice Commission (CJC), is also examining
the court documents, including an affidavit stating that vote-rigging ...
