(Daily Mississippian) (U-WIRE) OXFORD, Miss. -- University of Mississippi students may receive a cut in financial aid and scholarship funds in addition to the tuition increase that took place over the summer.

Legislators are predicting a deficit in the spring, despite the tuition hike, and are making plans to counteract with a financial aid cut.

This year, 18 student financial aid programs exist that serve about 33,768 students, approximately half of the 62,000 who attend Mississippi public universities.
