Smith Limousine Company to pay $300,000 for racism.

A group of African-American drivers may be smiling all the way to the bank. They successfully won a total of $300,000 in a discriminatory practice lawsuit against Smith Limousine Company, one of New York City's leading limousine service.

The lawsuit, filed in their behalf by the Federal Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, alleged that Smith, which employes more than 80 drivers, discriminated against African-American and female applicants for chauffeur jobs and instead gave those jobs to white males.

Under terms of the settlement, Smith Limousine Company is to provide $300,000 in back pay and interest ...
