Caribbean Americans hail re-election of Clinton.

Caribbean American elected officials, community leaders and many first time Caribbean American voters have hailed the re-election of President Bill Clinton as well as the gains made by Democrats in the U.S. House of Representatives and have expressed optimism that the victory will translate into changes to recently passed laws which affect immigration and welfare reform.

Like many Caribbean Americans who voted in a U.S. presidential election for the first time, Tomazene Mighty of New Jersey said she made every effort to become a registered voter so she could vote in yesterday's election.
