Way Cleared for Trial Of Mujibur Assassins.

Parliament cleared the way for the trial of the killers of Bangladesh's founder, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, by passing a bill last week repealing the indemnity granted the plotters of the 1975 coup.

The repeal bill was passed by a simple majority Nov. 12 in the absence of members of the main-opposition Bangladesh Nationalist Party of former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia, the Jamaat-i-Islami and the Islami Oikkya Jote.

Moments later, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Rahman's daughter, was congratulated by Jatiya Party general secretary Hussain Mohammed Ershad, the former President, who attended the proceedings in the house ...
