National Guard, Army To Align

ATLANTIC CITY (AP) -- The Army's eight National Guard combat divisions will for the first time be aligned with active-duty Army corps, to focus their training on specific wartime and other missions, Gen. Eric Shinseki, the Army chief of staff, said Thursday.

The change, which Shinseki announced at a meeting of the National Guard Association of the United States, will further erode the notion that Guard members are mere ``weekend warriors'' with little chance of shipping out for war.
