Fed: Labor to take police raid before privileges committee
CANBERRA, Sept 18 AAP - The Labor Party today gave up on court action over a weekend
police raid on a staff member's home and will now pursue the matter through the House
of Representatives' privileges committee.
Opposition leader Kim Beazley today wrote to House of Representatives Speaker Neil
Andrew arguing there was a gross infringement of parliamentarians' privilege which should
be considered by the committee.
Mr Beazley said the government had become so arrogant it was now using the police to
bully the opposition out of discharging its duties.
