What Jack Paar used to do was hand Jonathan Winters a stick. Perhaps there's nothing plainer than a stick, but within minutes, and on national television, Jonathan Winters would transform something about the size of half a broom handle into a fishing pole, a lion tamer's crop, a piccolo or a violin bow, wielded by characters to match.
