(The Student Printz) (U-WIRE) HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- Southern Miss quarterback Jeff Kelly rushed for three touchdowns and threw for two more as the 17th ranked Golden Eagles dismantled the hapless South Florida Bulls Saturday at The Rock, 41-7.
The Golden Eagles improved their record to 4-1 (1-0 C-USA) after defeating future conference foe, South Florida (3-3). The game was the first-ever meeting between the two schools and 26,559 fans watched USM reach its highest point total of the season. Kelly and the offensive unit were without the services of running back Derrick Nix, who was sidelined with an ankle injury, and they did not miss a beat.
