Oly: Sydney made Olympic Games more prestigious: Samaranch

SYDNEY, Oct 19 AAP - The Olympic Games have become more prestigious than ever before
after Sydney's outstanding success in hosting the event, IOC president Juan Antonio Samaranch
said today.
Mr Samaranch today presented the Olympic Cup to the people of Sydney to thank them
for their enthusiasm for the Games.
The 15cm silver cup was received by NSW Premier Bob Carr and Lord Mayor Frank Sartor
at a ceremony at Town Hall.
Mr Samaranch, in Sydney to attend the Paralympic Games, was glowing in his assessment
of the legacy of the 27th summer Olympics.
