(The Reveille) (U-WIRE) BATON ROUGE, La. -- Two small artillery pieces, remarkably shiny for their age, point across South Stadium Road from the front of the Aerospace Studies and Military Science Building at LSU. However, their purpose is not to menace and fire warning shots across the hoods of the frequent, speeding cars that refuse to acknowledge the nearby pedestrian crossings. The two artillery pieces have not been engaged in hostile activity for many years. They are a silent link to this university's beginnings.
