JOHANNESBURG, Nov. 21 (IPS) -- South Africa's neighbors are
suspiciously eyeing the ongoing negotiations on a free trade
agreement between South Africa and the European Union (EU).
Analysts say the agreement can have far-reaching benefits for the
region.
The agreement is expected to be finalized in mid-1998, but in
a recent round of discussions held in Pretoria it was agreed that
South Africa and the EU need to set firm deadlines for the signing
of the final agreement.
South Africa's negotiations with the EU could bring a better
trade arrangement not only for South Africa but for the 13 other
