This is WEEKEND EDITION from NPR News. I'm Scott Simon.

Ordinarily candidates seem to forget about New Hampshire right after the presidential primary there. But this year, with polls showing the tightest race for the White House in 40 years, candidates seem to be scrambling for every vote they can find, and the key for George W. Bush in winning the state of New Hampshire may be winning over those who voted for the man who defeated him last February, John McCain. New Hampshire Public Radio's Av Harris reports.
