At most summer camps, kids vie to become Camper of the Year.

At Camp Kehilla, run by the Riverdale YM-YWHA, the most coveted award is Jewish Culture All-Star.

Instead of hitting home runs or swimming laps, all-stars at this day camp are picked for outstanding knowledge of Jewish culture. Some 150 youngsters, most of whom travel everyday from Riverdale to the Henry Kaufman campgrounds in Pearl River, eagerly compete for the honor.
