(The Maneater) (U-WIRE) COLUMBIA, Mo. -- November is Native American Heritage month, held in honor of what some students say is an under-recruited minority at the University of Missouri.

President of Native American organization From the Four Directions Ed Smith said according to MU, the Native American student population is 108. However, he said, only about 50 students are actually Native American.

"A lot of people will tell us, 'I'm not really Native American; I just checked the box to get money,'" Smith said. "People don't realize we have to fork it out just like everybody else does."
