PRESIDENT SIGNS LAKE TAHOE RESTORATION ACT REID/GIBBONS LEGISLATION
AUTHORIZES
FEDERAL FUNDING TO PROTECT THE LAKE
WASHINGTON - Nevada Senator Harry Reid and Congressman Jim Gibbons
announced
today that the President signed the Lake Tahoe Restoration Act authorizing
$300 million for land acquisition, erosion control, forest management
and
fire prevention and for MTBE clean-up efforts.
"This is a fulfillment of a promise that we made in 1997 to do everything
in our power to save Lake Tahoe for future generations. Now, it will
