Vic; Wine industry sets new goals

MELBOURNE, Nov 22 AAP - The Australian wine industry today tore up its 30-year long-term
plan and replaced it with new goals saying it had already achieved some of its targets
in just four years.

Today the wine industry set itself the new target of aiming to sell $5 billion worth
of wine a year by 2010.

The industry is expected to sell $2.85 billion worth of wine this year.

In its last long-term plan set in 1996, Australia's wine industry forecasters believed
the country would need to plant 40,000 hectares of new grape vines by 2025.
