The United States is far richer in animal and plant species than previously
believed and it's home to 10 percent of all species described by science
thus far. More than 200,000 species are now known in America, twice
as much as the previous estimate, according to the findings of a new
book, "Precious Heritage: The Status of Biodiversity in the United
States." Dr. Bruce Stein is the book's lead author and he joins me
now. Good morning.
