(The Technician) (U-WIRE) RALEIGH, N.C. -- N.C. State's football team did not finish in the top 25 and did not challenge for a conference title. The Wolfpack, however, will likely make out better financially on its bowl trip than most of the teams who competed in this year's NCAA bowl games.
Officials in the athletics department project a $70,000 profit from the Micronpc.com Bowl, which offered a payout of $750,000 to NCSU and the University of Minnesota for playing.
According to Athletics Director Lee Fowler, roughly two-thirds of the teams who play in bowl games lose money, after paying for the expense of transporting and housing the team, ...
