Qld; Hostel fire hearing publicity helps with healing process
Queensland's Childers Shire Council says renewed publicity surrounding the committal
hearing of the man accused of torching the town's backpacker hostel will help survivors
in the healing process.
The council's chief executive STEVE JOHNSTON says he's received many e-mails and phone
calls from survivors in the months since the blaze swept the Palace Backpackers hostel,
300km north of Brisbane, last June 23.
Fifteen people were killed, many of them from overseas.
