Fed: Medicine vending machines improve access industry
CANBERRA, Jan 22 AAP - Vending machines selling medicines would be a major step towards
providing better consumer access to responsible self-medication, advocates said today.
A group known as the Australian Self-Medication Industry (ASMI) said recent media reports
on medicine vending machines were unduly alarmist and based on a misunderstanding of the
facts.
"The sale of medications from vending machines will reduce the cost of self-medication
and improve convenience for consumers by proving 24-hour access to medicines," ASMI executive
director Juliet Seifert said in a statement.
