Texas legislators push DNA testing
AUSTIN, Texas, Feb. 20 (UPI) -- The Texas Legislature Tuesday appeared headed toward passage of a DNA testing law that could free wrongly convicted inmates and perhaps help repair the image of the state's justice system.
The state senate passed the DNA bill Monday and Rep. Juan Hinojosa, chairman of the House Criminal Jurisprudence Committee, predicted Tuesday that some version of the legislation would pass the house before the current session ends.
