Just when you were ready to forget about last November's election
drama with its hanging, dimpled and pregnant chads, the whole issue
is back. After the US Supreme Court ordered an end to vote-counting
in Florida, a few news organizations, including The Miami Herald,
filed Freedom of Information requests and gained access to the disputed
ballots. The Herald, which is owned by Knight Ridder, hired an accounting
firm to conduct a recount by hand of Florida's undercounted votes.
