Census Bureau: Release Y2K Figures

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Disappointed Democrats and civil rights groups are calling for all population figures from the 2000 census to be released despite a Census Bureau recommendation to use only a raw ``head count'' of Americans for congressional redistricting.

Civil rights groups have been concerned because of bureau estimates that showed 3.4 million Americans -- mostly minorities -- were overlooked in the latest census.
