(Washington Square News) (U-WIRE) NEW YORK -- An audience ranging in age, race, sexual orientation and gender gathered last night at New York University Law School's Vanderbilt Hall to hear the words and knowledge of legendary feminist and author bell hooks.

The event was organized by the Womyn's Herstory Month planning committee.

"Who has questions for bell hooks?" she asked, while awaiting a microphone in the maximum capacity-filled classroom. Her smile and laughter helped to lighten the mood as she discussed sometimes sobering topics, like feminism, love, education, family and self-empowerment.
