Iraq-Kuwait dispute unresolved

AMMAN, Jordan, Mar 26, 2001 (United Press International via COMTEX) -- Although progress has been made to bridge the differences between Iraq and Kuwait during the Arab summit preparatory meetings, an agreement might not be made on finessed wording, prompting Iraq to demand eliminating a conciliatory clause from the agenda all together, according to Arab delegation sources on Monday.

The sources told United Press International that the main stumbling point so far has been the issue of sanctions imposed by the United Nations on Iraq since its invasion of neighboring oil-rich Kuwait in August 1990.
