Brunswick is the oldest company in bowling, founded in 1845 by
Swiss immigrant John Brunswick. He started by producing billiards
tables, then expanded the business to include wooden bowling lanes,
pins, and balls.
After the days of wooden bowling balls, rubber balls were
introduced and produced in one color, black.
Today there are bowling balls of practically every color. In recent
years, see-through bowling balls including such objects as skulls,
boxing gloves, and beer bottles, have become popular.
