OLYMPIA -- Democrats and Republicans are working together to pass a bill that would ban smoking in restaurants, bowling alleys and other places frequented by children, but the measure got mixed reviews at a House committee he
aring Tuesday.
Supporters from both sides of the political aisle tout the bill as a common-sense step toward curbing the dangers of secondhand smoke.
Opponents from bingo parlors, race tracks and restaurants contend that limiting where people can light up would drive away business and could lead to an outright ban on smoking in public places.
