Article: Use of date-rape drugs suspected at U. Dayton

(The Flyer News) (U-WIRE) DAYTON, Ohio -- Campuses across America are now being introduced to new substances referred to as date-rape drugs.

These substances are central nervous system depressants, and just like alcohol, depress the reflex centers in the brain.

Although no cases have been confirmed on the University of Dayton campus, there have been three instances this year that have been deemed suspicious by local EMT's and UD's own Rescue Squad.

Three cases, one occurring three weeks ago and the other two between Oct. 14-21, 2000, are strongly suspected to have involved a date-rape drug.
