On this date 30 years ago, Susan Stamberg arrived for her first day at work at NPR. She was hired to edit audiotape, helping to get stories ready for broadcast. Within a month, Susan was on the air. The next year she was a program host and it wasn't much longer before her voice became one of the most recognized on public radio. As a 30th anniversary surprise for Susan, NPR's Renee Montagne has been rummaging through some old tape.
