It seemed for a while that New Jersey politics had shed an image of
greed and grafting that used to be legendary and that led to pioneering
prosecutions decades ago. More recently, the state has elected some
notoriously clean politicians: country club Republicans, self-made
millionaire Democrats. But today the Garden State is awash in scandal.
Reporter Dan Barry of The New York Times wrote this weekend on the
