Workplace genetic testing lawsuit settled

FORT WORTH, Texas, Apr 18, 2001 (United Press International via COMTEX) -- The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission Wednesday announced settlement of its first court action challenging the use of workplace genetic testing under the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990.

The EEOC and the Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way Employees filed the lawsuit Feb. 9 in U.S. District Court in Des Moines, Iowa, seeking a preliminary injunction to halt genetic testing of workers at Fort Worth-based Burlington Northern Santa Fe railroad.
