(Rocky Mountain Collegian) (U-WIRE) FORT COLLINS, Colo. -- In Russia, recent government crackdowns on several independent media outlets have drawn heavy criticism from both the United States and Europe.
Following the Russian government's virtual takeover of the independent TV station NTV in mid-April, as well as the firing of editorial staff at two publications last week, Russian President Vladimir Putin is accused of trying to silence voices critical of his regime.
