(The Round Up) (U-WIRE) LAS CRUCES, N.M. -- After 11 practices and three scrimmages, the first phase of the highly anticipated 2001 New Mexico State football season will come to a close Saturday as the Aggie offense and defense battle each other in the annual Crimson-White Spring Game at Aggie Memorial Stadium. The game starts at 1:30 p.m.
First year NMSU assistant coach Ross Els said the initial workouts have been productive and the team and coaching staff have accomplished most of the goals of spring drills.
"We try to evaluate players and find replacements (for last year's seniors) during Spring ball and we've been able to do that," Els said.
