This is MORNING EDITION from NPR News. I'm Bob Edwards.
In his latest book, "Far Appalachia: Following the New River North,
" NPR's Noah Adams explores the history of the area and the people
who've lived there for decades. Noah is a native of Ashland, Kentucky,
and during the yearlong creation of the book, he biked, hiked, canoed
and traveled by plane along the New River.
