Qld: AWU angry over ALP reforms

The powerful Australian Workers Union is up in arms over proposed reforms to the Queensland
ALP rulebook.

At a special state conference this weekend, ALP delegates will consider reforms designed
to prevent vote-rigging.

The reforms have been developed in the wake of the vote-rigging scandal that rocked
the party and the BEATTIE government in Queensland last year.

But AWU boss BILL LUDWIG says a proposal to change the affiliation rules for unions
is profoundly undemocratic.
