John Smoltz Hopes for Quick Return

SAVANNAH, Ga. (AP) -- John Smoltz's second rehabilitation start in the minors was rockier than his first, but the Braves right-hander said Thursday he hopes to be back in an Atlanta uniform as early as next week.

Smoltz pitched five innings for the Class-A Macon Braves at Grayson Stadium, giving up a run and four hits to the Savannah Sand Gnats. Last week, he pitched four shutout innings for the Double-A Greenville Braves.
