(The Daily Aztec) (U-WIRE) SAN DIEGO -- Now that the San Diego State softball team has been given a second chance, it's time to see how it handles the opportunity.

Thursday, third-seeded San Diego State heads up to UCLA for its first game in the NCAA Regional Championships. The Aztecs will face No. 23 Cal State-Northridge (31-22) at 11:30 a.m.

If history is any type of predictor of the outcome, perhaps SDSU would like to go back in time and change it. The Aztecs' lifetime record against the Matadors is 9-30.

But Aztecs head coach Kathy Van Wyk doesn't buy into the history aspect.
