NSW: New ad campaign to counter attacks on nurses

A new ad campaign to counter physical abuse of nurses will be screened across NSW from tonight.

The joint campaign -- by the NSW Nurses Association and the state government -- comes
after a rising number of assaults and abuse against nurses.

The union says the biggest problem facing nurses is patients affected by drugs and alcohol.

Another area of concern is the growing number of male visitors who assault female nurses
in public hospitals.

The union and Health Minister CRAIG KNOWLES have launched a joint zero tolerance publicity
campaign called to counter the trend.
