Fed: Labor tips pre election government advertising blitz

CANBERRA, May 30 AAP - Australians are to be hit with a massive government pre-election
advertising blitz, and taxpayers will foot the bill, Labor warned today.

Opposition Senate Leader John Faulkner said officials had informed a Senate estimates
committee that the government was preparing several massive advertising campaigns ahead
of the election, scheduled for later in the year.

He said that would include $6.9 million to promote the government's response to the
Besley report on Telstra, targeted at regional Australia.
