As the summer months approach, folks across Georgia will turn on their
air conditioners and almost everyone will want to hit the road for
vacation.
Unfortunately, many will stay home because of increasing gas prices
and
everyone will be hit with higher utility bills. Soaring gasoline prices
will also hit farmers hard this summer. Increased gasoline and diesel
prices
have more than doubled the cost of harvesting crops while higher natural
gas prices have driven fertilizer prices out of sight. The Food and
Agriculture
Policy Institute reports that farmers are likely to see their income
drop
